Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado was introduced in 1915 by Woodrow Wilson. With elevations between 7700′ through 14,000′ Rocky Mountain National Park is definitely considered a mountainous environment. With 265,000 acres, 160 lakes and over 600 miles of stream Rocky Mountain National Park is definitely a sight to see. The best thing to do when your in the Park is to drive across the Trail Ridge Road. Starts at the Deer Ridge Junction (US 36 and US 34) on the east side of the park and the Colorado River Trailhead on the western slope. Trail ridge road is closed from mid-October to June. If you decide to go hiking please follow the Leave No Trace Mission Statement: The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics is an educational, nonprofit organization dedicated to the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors by all people, worldwide.
