San Juan Hut SystemThis 206-mile mountain bike route stretches from Telluride, Colorado to Moab, Utah, which is interspersed with fully-equipped huts spaced approximately 35 miles apart. They are basically designed for bikers in needed for a true biking adventure. The wooden huts are fully equipped for 8 people. The one room wooden huts are equipped with bunk beds and pads, sleeping bags, propane powered lights and cook stoves, cookware, food and water. There are no plumbing or bathing facilities, though streams and ponds are abundant along the trail for washing up. The food supply is replenished every other day, so you’ll never need to worry about running out of food. Water is stored in 5 gallon jugs and each person is asked to limit total consumption to 2 gallons per day.

Depending on your needs the cabins can be outfitted with food as well. The trail itself is for intermediate biker, although the terrain itself is not to difficult, it’s the 35 mile rides that can be challenging for beginners.

Reservations are required and can be made on line here. http://www.sanjuanhuts.com/mountain_bike_adventures/reservations/ A reservation deposit of 50% of total cost is required for confirmation. The deposit is non-refundable and no refunds are issued because of weather or other complications. Since trips are usually one-way and riders will need to arrange a shuttle you can contact either road runners or porcupine for further information.
