How does something like this happen in between these mountains. The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is surely one of the most magnificent natural wonders. You must make a trip and visit the Sand Dunes yourself. It is a little out of the way so make sure you plan accordingly. There are many camping areas but hotels are at least 45 minutes away.

Visiting in Winter the hours are 9am - 4:30 pm.

Visiting in Summer the hours are 9am - 6pm.

Camping is first come first serve so make sure you come early to grab a spot.

Entrance fees are $3 per adult (age 16 and older). Entrance fees are valid for one week from date of purchase. Children are free at all times.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Annual Pass costs $15, and admits pass holder and all family members in the vehicle into the park for one year from date of purchase.
