I liked your take on Colorado property, and have some more advice for the readers….there is a unique community nestled between Aspen and Telluride called Arrowhead. I have lived here 12 years and want folks to know that it’s still affordable here, lots ( acres) are starting at $58,000 and I have two of those beauties currently available. You can camp on them indefinitely since this community was started 30 years ago as a summer time camping site. Since then, it has graduated to a full time residence for over 100 folks who can’t bear to leave it and have moved here full time. There are cabins and million dollar homes scattered in the trees, you can hardly find them it’s so heavily treed with 60′ tall aspen and spruce so big around you can’t get your arms around them! I’ve lived in Colorado all my life and have never seen aspen this big. It’s probably because we have 15-20′ of snow, just like Crested Butte nearby. We snowmobile in to our homes in the winter, making this the most unique community I know of in Colorado. Remember, still affordable, cool 70 degree weather in the summer days, fishing in private stocked trout lakes, BLM a stones throw away, as is Ouray, Blue Mesa Reservoir, Black Canyon Natl Park, Silverton, Durango, Telluride day trips. Call me and I’ll fill you in on the details. Cathy at 970-862-8224

  3. Mike Said,

As with many tourist-reliant economies, there are great places in Colorado to purchase a second home (for both personal as well as rental use). You can’t go wrong with Breckenridge, Vail or Aspen — of course those are the top places in terms of costs too.

It appears Steven did not have a great experience. I would be curious to know where his property existed.
