Some of my favorite hikes in the White River National Forest are part of the “Hidden Gems” Wilderness Campaign. Although they are not designated as Wilderness Areas yet, there are some great places to see amazing views, hike with your family, see wildlife, etc. There are good maps and descriptions on the website: http://www.whiteriverwild.org, and sign up for their e-newsletter to hear about free, volunteer-led hikes during the summer.
