Winter Park Ski Resort History
Winter Park Mountain came to be recognized as Winter Park Ski Area and was opened for the first time during 1939-1940. The ski area’s ownership and management had been entrusted in the hands of Denver city and county up till 2002. By the year 2002, Denver handed over the ownership of Winter Park Ski Area to Intrawest ULC which was a Canadian corporation. Intrawest ULC has its headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Ski Train had been a convenient mode of transportation for the denizens of Denver for a period of almost seventy years. However this train ceased to operate as an outcome of being dismissed by railroad in 2009.
The resort features three mountain peaks namely Mary Jane, Winter Park and Vasquez Ridge that are brilliantly interlinked with one another by a network of lifts.
Today the Winter Park Ski Resort has come a long way to become one of the most popular ski resorts in Colorado.
