Lakeside Amusement Park History
Lakeside Amusement Park is attributed with a rich history, being one of the oldest parks in the United States. More so it also happens to be the oldest amusement park in Colorado.
Many are not aware of the fact that the park was originally built in accordance to the architectural styles of the Exposition and White City; hence White City had been the original name that was attributed to it.
However, over the years in 1930 this park was taken over by Ben Krasner. This marked the beginning of a whole new feature of the park as a whole. Some of the best architects of the time like Richard.L. Crowther had been assigned to renovate the park. It was he who attributed much of neon lighting, Art Deco style and other modern features to the amusement park.
Several of the architectural salvages of those times can be found to this day throughout the park. The manual telephone switchboard in the main office is one of them and is in use even today.
