Best Bed and Breakfast in Denver, Colorado

Queen Anne Bed and BreakfastQueen Anne Bed & Breakfast Inn was voted best Bed and Breakfast in Denver for 2008. Premier downtown bed and breakfast inn featuring 14 guest rooms. Of these, four are two-room gallery suites named for famous painters of bygone days (Audubon, Calder, Remington and Rockwell) and showing selected examples of their work. There are 10 double rooms. All are individually decorated with period antiques and have private baths, direct dial telephones, writing desks, data lines, piped in chamber music, fresh flowers and growing plants. The suites and some rooms have cable television. Seven have special tubs, two have fireplaces. Gardens stretch behind the two Victorians.

Personally I like to be a little bit away from town but for those who are not from Denver I think this will be a great place to stay. If you have stayed here please let us know what you thought.

Colorado Restaurants you can not miss…

If you are visiting from another state, country or even if you live here in Denver, these two restaurants are a must. In other words…..don’t leave Denver without eating at least at one of these restaurants.

Elways Restaurant

For those with a little more cash in their pockets, you can’t miss Elway’s. Elway’s is located at 2500 E. 1st Ave in Denver, CO. Since its opening 3 years ago, Elway’s has grown into one of the top steak restaurants in Denver. However, keep in mind that it’s definitely not cheap! The average cost of lunch will run you from $25 to $35 per person and dinner can be any where from $40 to $75 per person. I do have to say that their steaks, fish and salads are incredible. Some of my favorite dishes include:

Appetizer – Rhode Island Sytle Calamari or the Lobster Cocktail Entree – 16oz NY Strip, sauteed steak mushrooms and red potatoes lyonnaise. If you prefer fish, try the Ahi Tuna, au gratin pototoes and sauteed asparagus. The tuna and asparagus are cooked to perfection! If you want to share a salad with your table, try the heirloom tomato and sweet onion salad with gorgonzola and aged sherry vinaigrette… It’s my favorite salad at Elway’s.

Buckhorn Exchange

For the True Colorado experience you can not miss the Buckhorn Exchange!

Founded in 1893 by one of the Buffalo Bill’s band of frontiersman, The Buckhorn Exchange is Denver’s oldest restaurant. This restaurant serves exactly what you would expect from a true Denver restaurant! On the menu you will find steaks, elk, buffalo, rattlesnake, rocky mountain oysters (bull testicles), duck salmon, trout, quail, cornish hen, rocky mountain lamb and even their old fashion Grandma Fanny’s Pot Roast! You don’t just go to The Buckhorn Exchange for dinner you go for the experience. The restaurant has been located right across the street from the old railroad tracks since 1893, so you can just imagine the history that this place contains!

Buckhorn Exchange

There are tons of pictures and stories up and down the walls of this restaurant. There are stories about the people that traveled to the rocky mountain region in search for gold, a new place to live or even to dissapear from the law. If you get a chance to visit this great place, don’t forget to go upstairs and visit the bar. The solid wood bar is still the original bar from the late 1800′s. The Buckhorn Exchange is located at 1000 Osage Street in Denver, CO.
